“Nedbank Cares”; Making a Difference In Our Communities Corporate Social Investment Makes Business Sense

Nedbank Lesotho – From its inception in 1997, Nedbank Lesotho Limited has made things happen in Lesotho, and displayed commitment to the socio-economic development of the country, its residents, and its future. It is in this vein that the bank held an inaugural “Nedbank Cares” CSI Campaign, from the 23rd-25th September, 2009.

The “Nedbank Cares” project is our unique way of demonstrating the business value of being a socially responsible corporate citizen, by being highly involved in the communities in which we operate, with emphasis on supporting OVCs and the disabled.

The campaign took place over 3 days, where the bank and staff donated computers to three local charities, as well as food and hygiene packs for the 220 children being looked after by the charities. We do not see this as a one-time initiative, rather it forms a critical part of our ongoing community support and development program involving our own staff, and partnered with local NGOs and organizations looking after the livelihood of orphaned and vulnerable children; including Sentebale, Rotary in Lesotho, Beyond Bikes, and the Queen’s National Trust Fund.

For this year’s “Nedbank Cares”, the bank has partnered with Rachel Children’s Home for HIV/AIDS Orphans in Maputsoe; St. Paul’s School for the Deaf in Hlotse, and St. Angela Cheshire Home for Disabled Children in Ha Seleso, Maseru.

“Nedbank Cares” is but part of our ongoing pursuit to be the bank of choice in Lesotho for Basotho, by caring and making a difference to all our stakeholders and by meeting head-on the challenges that face every Mosotho. See picture
