With
your safety in mind, we have put together this
safety tips and hints for secure banking at ATM’s
- Be vigilant at all times
- Be aware and know your surroundings
- Do not accept help from strangers
- Keep your PIN number secret
- Take care to cover the keypad when entering
your PIN number
- At Point of Sale Terminals (POS) check the
card you receive back has your name
- Sign your payments cards at the back (debit
and credit card) as an additional measure
against fraudsters using your cards at POS
- Safeguard your ATM card, credit card, debit
card, cheque book and bank statements at all
times
- Check your statements regularly to ensure
that no unknown transactions have gone through
- Protect your identification documents at all
times
- Be on the lookout for strangers sitting by
extended periods of time near ATM’s
- Report suspicious incidents or behaviour to
the bank and the police
- Report lost cards immediately.
- Scratch marks, adhesive or tape residues
could be indicators of a skimming device having
been attached to the ATM.
