Make travel a pleasure

Travelling should always be a pleasure, whether it's for business or leisure. Carrying foreign banknotes to pay for the small things makes it easier to experience the local culture when travelling abroad.

To buy forex you must:

be 18 years or older;

be travelling abroad for pleasure or for business; and

have a Nedbank transactional or credit card account.

Documents you'll need

  • A valid passport.

  • If travelling by air, an air ticket indicating your departure from Lesotho.

  • For expatriates, a valid work permit and tax clearance certificate.

  • For business, a company letter authorising the proposed trip.

Limits and restrictions

 

For holiday travel

  • A limit of M1 million has been set under the single discretionary allowance and covers, among other things, a yearly travel allowance for residents 18 and older.
  • Residents younger than 18 are allowed to take up to M200 000 per year.

 

For business travel

  • The Central Bank of Lesotho has allocated companies an Omnibus travel facility of M20 million for company employees travelling on company business and its allocation is at the discretion of the company.
